What is it: As if Hollywood and Hallmark came together for a sequel
What's good: Steve Martin
What's bad: Shamefully sentimental, comedic filler-heavy, overacted and last but not least, Martin Short

Our Guys: Outrage at Glen Ridge (1999)

Rating: 6.5/10

What is it: A TV movie based on the events of the Glen Ridge rape case
What's good: Pretty good Heather Matarazzo performance, intense climax
What's bad: TV movie editing, feels rushed at times

August 18th

 

Dinner with Friends (2001)

Rating: 6.5/10

What is it: A commentary on marriage and fidelity, based on a play
What's good: Good cast and a solid story
What's bad: Direction seems lacking at times, Andie McDowell's hokey acting

August 19th

 

A Snoodles Tale (2004): Worst Movie of the Week Award

Rating: 4/10

What is it: Yet another VeggieTales video that is a ripoff homage to Dr. Seuss
What's good: Main story weaves in its religious message pretty effectively
What's bad: Panders to adults, Silly Song is curiously full of brand names, the usual VeggieTales issues

A Dog Year (2009)

Rating: 5.5/10

What is it: An HBO Jeff Bridges dog movie
What's good: The dogs
What's bad: Short running time, predictable from the first ten minutes, melodramatic

 

Batman: Under the Red Hood (2010)
Rating: 7/10

What is it: Animated DC film with Batman facing off against a new enemy
What's good: Story packs a punch, riveting climax
What's bad: Animation disappoints from time to time, takes its time in gearing up

August 21st

 

Game Change (2012)

Rating: 7/10

What is it: An account of what happened during the McCain/Palin campaign
What's good: Performances of the three mains, makeup, good look into US politics
What's bad: Perhaps not quite as objective as it could've been, mocking tone at certain times

August 22nd

 

Ola einai dromos [It's a Long Road] (1998): Best Movie of the Week Award

Rating: 7.5/10

What is it: A three-parter Greek film
What's good:Well written stories, superbly acted and beautifully scored
What's bad: Camera work/editing at the very end of Part 2, slow pace isn't for everyone
